WHAT A LOVELY ANTIQUE GEORGE VI SILVER CANTEEN OF CUTLERY.

IT IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY.

Here we have a quite exceptional and quite lovely 24 place setting of hallmarked silver cutlery of quite superb gauge and weight.Hallmarks are deep and clear.

The condition is terrific and it looks almost unused!


All pieces are assayed in Sheffield and dated 1948 (year letter F) and they have a makers mark for top manufacturers Harrison Bros & Howson.The cutlery knives are by Carrington 130 Regent Street and stamped as such to their flawless stainless steel blades.

This is a lovely antique lot and a must have.

It comes in 17 plush green anti tarnish cutlery wraps to store the canteen pieces in.This huge canteen is so extensive it needs that many wraps to store it all in!



The canteen comprises as follows:

24 three pronged dessert forks-6.75 inches in length-936 grams combined

24 three pronged dinner forks-7.625 inches in length-1608 grams combined

24 dessert spoons-6.875 inches in length-1248 grams combined

24 soup spoons-6.75 inches in length-1488 grams combined

12 serving spoons-8.25 inches in length-972 grams combined

The weighable silver of the above 108 items is a staggering 6252 grams (201.82 troy ounces).

There are also with hallmarked silver tines and blades:

24 fish forks-6 inches in length-23 grams each

22 fish knives (sadly 2 are missing)-7.25 inches in length-33 grams each

There must be around an ounce of silver per pair thus totalling another 23 ounces of silver in these fish eaters.

In addition there are with stainless steel blades:

24 dessert knives-8 inches in length

24 dinner knives-9.125 inches in length

All in all there is over 224 troy ounces of silver in this truly wonderful set.

These lovely pieces are of exceptional quality and each is a most delightful piece of hefty table silver.

Pattern is most pleasing on the eye and is RATTAIL.

Each piece is engraved with a lovely crest and always has been.

Would be ideal as a very special present.
