Ariel 1934 500cc Red Hunter Restoration Project

⭕ A project that I never found the time to complete. This 1934 Ariel, Twin Port 500 c.c. Red Hunter was ridden home from work back in 1951 and put in the shed at the bottom of the garden. The owner that night was offered a car which he bought and the bike never moved again until it was offered to me some years ago.

I started on the restoration but due to a family bereavement it stalled half way through. I have had new mudguards and lots of bits remade using the originals as patterns. I had a lot of chroming carried out but the chromer lost all the item tags and the list and just wrapped them up and chucked them in a box. So there is a bit of a jigsaw puzzle to sort. Items are mostly still there to carry out a complete restoration.

Although the bike looks in reasonably good condition NOTE: The whole bike will need extensive revisiting from a restoration standpoint as it has sat around under wraps but untouched for over ten years until now, e.g. the gear box was refurbished and re-greased, wheels re-chromed and painted, new silencers and up-swept pipes but as I say over 10 years ago.
