Honda CBR900RR 1994

⭕ You are looking at my 1994 Honda Frankenstein Fireblade 900cc aka The Black Prince.

I originally purchased this bike for £750 in spite of world renown motorbike enthusiast Diamond Derrick Page giving me the no go. I thought, well, what could a veteran biker who as been buying and maintaining his own bikes for 60+ years possibly know what a plumber who passed his test last year doesnt, so like Danny Dyer at a pub fight in the naughties, I jumped in head first.

I planned on dropping a few hundred smackers on it and having an absolute mint, everlasting, reliable dream machine but reality quickly slapped me round the face when I turned on the ignition and realised that scientists were closer to finding life on Mars than I was life in this bike. After eventually restoring power to the Prince i revealed that my radiator had more holes in than pub dartboard and the carburettor was completely seized up causing petrol to gush out the side of the bike, making the Bellagio Las Vegas water fountains seem like a garden hose in comparison to this disgusting mess of petrol and coolant my bike was vomiting out onto the floor.

After deciding to fit a new radiator and rebuild the carbs myself to try and keep the dream alive, I got myself a cheap rebuild kit off Ebay and went into my garage with my new found vigour and started to dismantle the Black Prince, after nearly giving up i eventually lost it and went full Zangief, ripping the carbs off their 23 year throne, revealing the true nature of its previous owner. Masking tape was replacing unknown components, a wiring loom which wouldnt look out of place in my granddads shed, a fuel tap that leaked more than a BP oil barrel and a fuel tank which contained what can only be described as toxic bile.

After rebuilding the carbs quicker than Usain Bolt running from the KKK, desperate to see if my 750 quid would have been better spent on Blockbuster stocks and shares, The carbss ended up coming off and going back on again more than a jockey with L plates, but eventually through trial and error they held. In my haste i had completely disregarded any common sense to clean out my filthy petrol tank before the questionable contents could contaminate my shiny new carburettor internals and after a quick plug and filter change, i fired up the Prince!.

The bike ran ok at first but after carefully taking it down the road on tyres which have less grip than a 90s micro machine I realised that it ran like an absolute dog and shortly after my glorious lap of the block the fuel pump gave up.

I have since purchased and fitted a cheap knock off fuel pump off Ebay which has only made the problems seemingly worse. My spirit has now been conquered and I am ready to let the Black Prince go to a new home.

Clocks have been changed so your guess is better than mine on the millage.

£1000 or £700 and some power tools.
