Free Apartment For Volunteer Teachers

⭕ Come Experience China as a Volunteer Teacher!

Presto! English in Huizhou, China, just north of Hong Kong, is looking for part-time Volunteer Teachers of good moral character who want the experience of a lifetime exploring the wonders of China without the burden of paying for hotels or other lodging; whether its travelling to popular tourist destinations or heading off the beaten path. Maybe your thing is trying out the endless cuisine. Youll have time to do it all, all while living rent-free in exchange for a little of your time, and consequently get a little teaching experience if youve never taught before. Couples are welcome and we would even recommend you come with a good friend or family member to share your experience together.

Presto! English will provide volunteers with airport pick up and take them straight to their comfortable, furnished apartment with all the basics in exchange for just up to 12 hours of teaching time per week, as needed by the school. If the school is unable to arrange the working hours, thats even more free time for you to do as you please!

We require that all eligible applicants be at least 21 years of age and a native English speaker of one of the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, or ANZ. Applicants are required to stay no less than a semester, which is about 4-5 months, excluding winter and summer breaks which are only about 4-6 weeks. If you arrive after a semester has begun, we will only obligate you to stay until the end of that semester. As you will only be provided lodging and not be allowed to be paid by the school, you should come with ample funds to support your lifestyle or prepare ongoing financial support for your stay in advance with someone in your home country. Presto! English is not able to provide financial support to volunteer teachers for any reason. Please plan to come prepared! The cost of living is very low in Huizhou compared to the big cities in China, and with free lodging, you can easily live comfortably on the equivalent of a few hundred US dollars per month.

When you teach, we will provide you with a local teacher who will assist you and provide translation to the students for you, as well as offer you free Mandarin language lessons sometime during your free time if you are interested to learn it. You will have lots of free time during the weekdays. The majority of your teaching time most likely will be on weekends, when most of the students have free time. Most of the students are 6-12 years old.

Hiring teachers puts our schools reputation on the line, so we are careful to ensure that our students are being taught by people of good character, that are punctual, and that honestly care about improving our students English. Therefore, we will require 3 references from applicants, as well as a clean criminal record which should be easily obtainable where you live.

Our agreement is simple. You are provided lodging and Chinese lessons in exchange for voluntarily teaching up to 12 hours per week if the school can arrange it. You must agree to work a full semester or till the end of a semester if you arrive after a semester has begun. Once your agreement has been fulfilled according to the Volunteer Teacher Agreement, we will reimburse your airfare, criminal record and visa fees up to USD 1,200 or prorate the amount if working a partial semester.

If you are interested in this chance of lifetime to experience China, please send the following by e-mailing our Director at: with Volunteer Teacher in the subject line:

A basic resume including any previous or current teaching experience

The copy of the main page of your passport with your photo and personal details

Copy of (clean) criminal record

Briefly tell us your main purpose for coming to China and for how long

Please give a brief self-introduction

Explain your means of supporting yourself during your stay in China

Three references of people you have known for at least 2 years

Preference will be given to teachers with experience, but it is NOT required. If we decide that you are a suitable candidate to come teach for us, we will set up a time to interview you through Skype and send you a copy of the volunteer agreement to read over.

Just another thing to know in advance, you will need to first purchase your own round trip air ticket to process your visa at your designated Chinese embassy or consulate for your area. Presto! English will send you an invitation letter to submit with your visa application. If you only buy a one-way ticket, there is a very good chance your visa will be refused. Weve seen it happen. Plan to purchase the round-trip ticket! Presto! English will reimburse you as stated above when your agreement has been fulfilled.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sincerely,

All of us at Presto! English
