The Orrey shows the Earth with its axial tilt spinning 365 times during a full Earth year orbited by the Moon which follows a 5 degree inclined plane.

Mars is orbited by its moons Phobos and Deimos. The orbital relationship between the two moons is correct but the orbital speed has been reduced.

The Orrey has two diamond engraved bronze dials with pointers showing the month and corresponding sign of the Zodiac

The Orrery is mounted upon an octagonal wooden base made from English ripple walnut, supported by four polished bronze legs.The Orrery is engraved with the makers legend D Staines Fecit, London, England.

The Walnut base is approx 9 inches across flats by one and three quarters thick and the Orrery stands eleven and one quarter inches high.
