Guys,this is as good as it gets buying a lathe that has been gone through down to the last screw.This is a lathe that is basically new at a used price. History: This is a 1970 14 lathe that was sold to Cyfair ISD,as you could imagine it just set most of the time all those years till it was sold to its second owner who was a mechanical engineer to be used in a hobbyist environment.Guys this was not his only lathe that he had so again not much use.The third owner pick this up at an estate sale few yrs ago,was told that the lathe and the other machines also set for several yrs till all the family decited to let all the shop items to be sold.This is where I enter the picture,to completely go through the machine make all repairs and get it back running 100% like the day it was sold.I believe that I did just that and added alittle bling to this lathe.See if you can spot any of it:) Condition:Guys I just dont see any ware at all on the ways,so for a lathe that is bout 47 yrs old shes looking good.You did see the tag at the end of the bed that saysFlame Harden Waysright????This lathe has an oil pump built into the design so that when the lathe is running it is pumping oil to the bearings.Tail stock is nice,the ram is not all rusty at all,still good chrome plating and so smooth.The carriage is very nice and oh so smooth,power feed for the carriage and the compound so just flip a lever watch it do the work for you.The power feed can be set to cut very slow for those hard metal or fast for those soft metal to get that polish finish.Your choice!Guys this machine was strip down and clean to remove all that old cutting oil them wash down with lacquer thinner.The primer paint and two tone finish is all Sherwin Williams Industrial paint,no corners were cut here,top dollar spent for the best paint that they had.Guys lets talk for minute,have you notice that other lathes on CLs are always just one color but they look new,right??? Well that shows that they did not take the lathe apart so they just clean it up then spray the lathe all in one session.Kinda lazy right, and deceiving but not this package. Package:8 Chuck CXA Aloris Tool Post(no holders) SB Carriage Stop w/Find Adjustment Taper Attachment(missing the piece that holds it to the bed)That can be your first project 8 Chuck/locks to the spindle so can machine either forward/reverse :) Machine Light-Guys this was 60.00 light which being made for a machine cutting oil will not hurt it. Coolant Hose-Guys this is just a start,I was going to invest more money for a system but not all of us will use a coolant system but this is a start if you want to go there. RPM digital display-fine tune your rpms for that metal and finish 3hp Heavy duty motor,they dont make them like this anymore Spindle Bore 1 3/8 so if you need to pass something through the spindle it will handle up to 1 3/8 Control Starter w/Stop & Start:Guys this lathe did not have a starter on it,go figure??I wanted the protection for operator and the equipment,well worth the extra money to me.Better safe than sorry,right? 7.5HP Rotary Phase Converter:Guys at the estate sale this converter was used only as a stationary piece of equipment to take house hold voltage 230v and convert it over to 230 3 phase.That great but your not getting the full benefit of this converter.So I made it into a floor model that can be rolled over to any 3 phase machine that is under 7.5 hp.I had to invest more money so that the controls are mounted on the converter and not just on the wall.So move it where you want to!!!!
