ANNA POTTERY Folk Stoneware Railroad PIG Flask Bottle

⭕ This little brown glazed pig flask weighs approximately 1.5 lbs and measures approximately 8 in length, 3 ½ in height. He has no cracks but does have two chips: the tip of the left ear has a 5/16 chip and the middle of the snout has a 1/16 chip.

There are several inscriptions covering the full body. The entire right side of the body is a map of Illinois landmarks, cities and railroad routes separated from the left side by a drawing a river with the inscription: Miss. River. A few of the inscriptions are either hard to decipher or appear to be legible but dont make sense (as in, I have been unable to locate the names/places on actual maps). I have added a question mark after those words.

The bottom of the piece is inscribed: Chicago the great corn mart of the world, Cincinnati the ancient Porkopolis

The left rear foot is inscribed: Tunnel Hill

The left side of the body is inscribed: St. Louis the future Capital, Latest and Most Reliable, Railroad & River Guide, With a little good old bourbon in a hogs. . .. . ..(this last inscription leads to the bottle opening at the rear of the pig J)

The top of the body is inscribed with a river drawing and the words Miss. River

The right side of the body is inscribed with the following: GHV RR (?), Vincciis (?), Effingham, Odin, Centralia, Carbondale, Vandalia, O & M RR (?), Kaolin, Springfield, Bloomington, Anna the Jug City, Mounds, Cairo the (again, this inscription leads to the bottle opening at rear), Jonesboro, Poland Tower, Gar St J. RR (?), IC RR
