The 061 thus closes the gap between the 052 CD Player from the Rondo Line and the 001 from the Top Line. The 001 and the 061 have the Philips CD 2 Pro drive unit in common. In the 001 this drive is elaborately reconstructed by Burmester into a belt-driven drive. In the 061 the drive is used as a direct drive with modified servo board. In both players this is a guarantee for a highresolution as well as musical sound. Also responsible for this is its most advanced converter technology with switchable upsampling rates (96 and 192 kHz) as well as the top-of-the-line analog output stages. All D/A converters are located on a separate D/A converter module that can be upgraded or retrofitted for future developments. The MMI slot of the 061 is also ready for future developments; further digital link ups can be inserted here. Tonal balance and finest details are unified in the 061 in a virtually optimized manner. Its precise top loader, made of milled aluminum, is derived directly from the 001 CD Player and makes even the insertion of a CD a pure enjoyment when the 10-millimeter thick tray glides open and closed, soft as butter on Teflon rails. The distinctive recessed grip is likewise the distinctive mark of the 061. The 061 also has a lot to offer in the way of features and convenience: For example, its builtin D/A converter can also be used externally through the digital inputs. All incoming digital signals are also sampled up to the selected sample rate by the sample rate converter. All functions of the CD player can be controlled via the BurLinkTM interface by media control systems such as CrestronTM or AMXTM. The mirrored display may be dimmed in several stages and also switched off completely, and -- as usual for a Burmester -- its clearly structured control section makes users feel instantly familiar with the unit. The 061 will certainly become a highly coveted item, but beware: Its serial number is indelibly stored in its control chips and can be displayed by the user on the dot-matrix display. Any unauthorized change of the serial number will irrevocably shut down the unit, to be revived exclusively by Burmester in Berlin.
