NAGRA TI INSTRUMENTATION TAPE RECORDER, DUAL CAPSTAN, VERY RARE


⭕ The elusive engineering gem - a very lightly used NAGRA TI dual capstan state of the art tape recorder. About 100 units ever produced/sold, with very few remaining in operation
used by a few institutions such as the military, NASA and aircraft labs, to read black boxes, etc. Specs are second to none: 8 speeds bi-directional (from 1.19 cm/sec to 152 cm/sec (60 ips!), frequency range from DC to 125 kHz. The Nagra T- AUDIO recorder was based on this platform, but is far less sofisticated and precise
The machine uses 1/4 magnetic tape from 3 reels to 12 reels. It has 2 record and 2 repro 2- track heads (giving 4 tracks combined) in very good condition, real time tape tension indicator/calibration, all-ruby guides, 2 sinchronized capstans, 5 motors, and a lot of sophisticated features. Very light/compact for what it is - 40x40x17cm, 20kg, with carry on handle. Swiss made to outlive us. Elegant as Swiss watch, durable as a tank.
