⭕ This BR Standard Class 5-73000 was a model I bought very recently with the intention of getting it professionally repainted to a fine standard and then selling it on.

However,this week it was given a boiler hydraulic test prior to the visit of the boiler inspector only for a problem to arise in the firebox.


With a full boiler of cold water there were no visible leaks in the firebox but under pressure two tubes were seen to have a tiny leak and also a faint damp patch on the adjacent seam.It is the type of leak that only shows under pressure and when in steam it takes upso that the loco can carry on being steamed with the problem undetected until its next hydraulic boiler test.


For this reason I have decided to sell the model as is at a low enough price to leave a good margin for the new owner to buy a new boiler or get a potentially expensive repair done.


There are two other minor jobs that will need completing-a new tender hand pump and pipes have been installed but not all the pipe end fittings that connect to the loco pipes beneath the footplate have been completed.e.g.threads and male/female nuts. Also,as part of this same job,in readiness the pipes have been disconnected from the axle pump.Other than this there is a slight dingon the firebox side cleading(drivers side) and the sliding panel in the cab roof is missing.

The locomotive has an axle pump,injector,tender hand pump,mechanical lubricator,is fitted with a battery box and wiring for electric headlamps,etc.and comes with a full set of firing irons.

The machine finish on the motions,wheels,etc.,is to a very good standard and the bushes are sound.When the model is finally rebuilt it will again be a superb looking and powerful model.
