1961 61 Fender Bass VI 3 Switch, Slab, Vintage RARE!!!!

⭕ 1961 (yes 61 ) Fender 3 Switch! Bass VI in beautiful 3 tone sunburst finish, This is no Run of the mill Slab board Bass VI (If there is such a thing) This is an Unbelievably rare instrument; The Fender Six String Bass VI did not officially come out until 1962 and very few were made with Slab fretboard necks. Having the 10-61
quote Neck date and headstock decal; indicates that this is an EARLY 61 Bass VI!!! Quite possibly one of the First 5 Ever made, may be the 1st one Ever made, Who knows!?! In today
quote s terms this would be considered a Pilot run Instrument, possibly used for NAMM , a Music Trade show or an in Store Demo instrument. This is Not a Prototype, as all the Prototype after 58 were stamped ldblquote Prototype
dblquote on the neck and body, they were either junked, dismantled or kept at the factory for bench testing. This instrument is so early that Fender either did not have a name for it or was waiting for the new ldblquote Bass VI
dblquote decals to come in. There is no shadow or any indication (Even under Black light) that there was ever the ldblquote Bass VI
dblquote attachment on this decal, more likely this was a clipped Jazz Bass decal, which simply bore the name Fender.par
The Stackpole pots both read 20th week of 1961, none of the solder joints have been touched. Nothing has been changed, broken, altered, or repaired. The Serial no is: 67XXX The neck and body finish are 100% Original with no touchups, I would rate the over all condition a solid 7 e - 8 on a scale from 1 - 10. Some edge wear and a little neck wear. The Frets are in great shape and do not fret out anywhere on the Fretboard. The neck shape at the nut is like an early 60
quote s Jazzbass neck but not as thick, it almost feels like a guitar neck! It is more comfortable to play than other Bass VI
quote s I have owned. The neck is straight with no twist or back bow issues, the trussrod has tension and works as it should. The pickups are the Early style with the chrome surround, all the pickups work, they are Full and Robust sounding, none of the pickups are Micro-Phonic. All the electronics work, no dirty potentiometers, everything is smooth. It plays like Butter and sounds unreal!! The Bass Weighs about 8 d Lbs. The case is a Jazz / P bass case (longer) I believe this is the original case that this instrument left the factory in,
