Vintage 1964 Martin D-21 Guitar Brazilian Rosewood

⭕ 1964 MARTIN D21 Acoustic Dreadnaught guitar with Brazilian Rosewood Back and Sides and Spruce Top.The guitar was purchased in 1964 from the original and only owner. The person is still in the music business but decided to let go of the guitar. It is an absolutely beautiful guitar. The tone is like nothing else and just yesterday I had a professional musician ask to trade his Collings for it because he thought the quality and tone was better. The action on the guitar is even better. It has never had a neck reset. It has just been played alot and well cared for.Back in 1993, the owner had worn out the frets. He contacted Martin and proved he was the original owner and they worked/fixed the guitar at no cost. This was work done directly from the people at Nazareth. They put all new frets in (identical to the originals), there was a 1 inch slight top crack that was closed and glued (a couple inches from the bass side neck/body joint) which is very minor, and they reseated the original bridge. All for free. The finish is original and all parts are original except the bridge pins, the nut (which was replaced by Martin at the factory) and the tuning keys, which were changed in the late 60s to Grovers (Patent Pending on the backs).Martin also gave him a new set of tuning keys that would have been on the guitar. They are Kluson style tuners with metal button knobs. I would have put them on but when the Grovers were put on, the original holes were filled and I didnt want to redrill. The imprints of the original tuning keys are still there.
The case is original and is holding up.There are no cracks other than the small repaired one and the condition is excellent for its age.The back of the body is exceptional with no buckle rash. The back of the neck, headstock and body top have nicks and wear ash shown. The guitar was played a lot and the top is worn with age checking.A Fishman Rare Earth humbucking pickup was installed through the butt and mounted in the soundhole. There were no modifications to the guitar besides drilling the end pin hole bigger to fit the jack.
There has been a lot of comments regarding the body wood. Most people dont see Brazilian Rosewood and it varies a lot. There is a tight grain that looks similar to Mahogany but there is a lot more character in the Brazilian than in Mahogany. The guitar does not sound like a Mahogany guitar. It has a full wide range sound with a nice bottom end and pronounced highs compared to Mahogany.
