1970 Mopar 440 Six-pack Engine

⭕ Update: I have been asked about the bushing inside the crank and if the internals are original six pack components. I decided to take the engine off the stand...remove the flex plate and see if it has a bushing for a 4-speed transmission....INDEED IT DOES!
Also, the rods are 2951908, the original six pack rods. I tried to take a photo of the number but it just couldnt be done. You can also see the crank and judge for yourself.

This is a very nice turn-key engine just broken in. This motor came out of a 1970 GTX and was built by Hughes Performance of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.. It was used to replace the 383 in a 1970 Barracuda. 1970 is is the most desireable year for the 440 engine...please note the photo of the build date F 440 3 2 . F is for 1970...3 is for the 3rd week of the 2nd month. If Im not competely accurate on that I apologize....F is the important one...it definitely means 1970 and is the last year of the 390hp six pack engine. They were detuned after 1970. The engine may have as much as 500 miles on the break-in and it is the quickest engine that Ive ever driven. The previous owner described it as scary fast. I purchased the car from him just after the new engine was installed. I then decided to build a hemi Cuda and replaced the 440 with a dual quad hemi engine. As you can see from the photos, the engine is complete from air cleaner to pan except for the alternator bracket. I also have the exhaust system with chrome headers, Flowmasters and Cuda Chrome tips.... it is the complete setup for a 70 Cuda and is available for a very fair price.

The person that had the engine built used only the best high performance parts though I did not get a list of them. Im not going to take the engine apart so that I can list them either. All that I can say is that the engine is flawless. The only thing that I know for sure is that the engine is bored .30 over, has roller rockers and a high performance cam. Also, the compression tests per cylinder were all within 1% of factory specs with the exception of number 1 which was within 3%.

Included with the engine:

air cleaner with element

3 new Holleys with linkage and fuel lines

Edelbrock intake

distributor (converted to electronic)

alternator

Power steering pump, brackets and hose

fuel pump

pulleys and fan

motor mounts

chrome headers
