⭕ Complete New Old Stock (NOS) Toyota 18RG crate engine that was originally bought by my uncle from TRD here in the States in the early 1980s. It was a spare engine for his desert race car. It was bolted into the chassis while the race car was being built, for mock up purposes, but it was never spun over. This engine has been sitting in his garage since the early 80s.

The head, casting -88270 is the last casting for this series of engines. Its a big port, big valve head with EFI friendly cam profiles

From what I can figure, it appears to be an EFI 18RG that my uncle placed a set of dual carbs onto.


Also consider the cam chains and tensioners have not been available for over a decade. So even if you re-build your core youll have stretched chains and grooved tensioners, as oppossed to all new, like this has. In addition I doubt the rebuilder is going to go to the lengths that Toyota did with these race engines and re-nitrite the crank surfaces as the OE forgings are. Just think about valve guides for a second, these are honed to size. I can think of maybe half a dozen machine shops Nationally that do honed guides when they rebuild heads everyone else does K-line and ream to fit. Cheaper, faster and junk! Reamed guides do not hold tolerance ask any NHRA, Nascar, Formula engine builder.
