1920 BABE RUTH PRO BASEBALL BAT

⭕ Original Early 1920s Louisville Slugger Babe Ruth Baseball Bat made by Hillerich and Bradsby Co. This is a 35 long bat and weighs 43.6 ounces, and is an R2 style that Ruth used early in his career rather than the R43 style that he used later on. This Bat was purchased from Milton Malone who passed away in 1992. The Malone were originally from Yonkers, New York and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1946. Milton was the youngest child of Malone family and was somewhat handicapped. When he was in his early teens he became friends with an older gentleman named Al Lang who treated Milton like a grandson and in the early 1950s got him the dream job working as a batboy with the New York Yankees who had their Spring Training in St. Petersburg. Mr. Lang had many social, political and business connections, and was the mayor of St. Petersburg from 1916 - 1920. The Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg is named in his honor as he was instrumental in bringing professional baseball to the city in the early twentieth century. Mr Lang gave the Bat to Milton as a Christmas gift in the mid 1950s. Mr. Lang was a close friend of Babe Ruth in the early years and the bat was given to him as a gift from Babe Ruth himself. The Bat is in beautiful Condition. Shipping available or collection can be arranged.
