⭕ TANNOY LANCASTER 15 INCH MONITOR GOLD SPEAKERS - LSU/HF/15/8 - PAIR


Good pair - original - fully working - sound superb.


I think these are fairly early Lancaster 15inch golds, as they have relatively low serial numbers and the older-type of speaker cable connection at the back.
Condition:
The overall condition is good, but see below for wood and fabric info. Also please expect general minor marks and imperfections in keeping with age. The cabinets had not been previously opened and I was the first one to remove the drive units.
Drivers & cross-overs: Perfect condition, previously un-removed from cabinets.
Wood: The wood was partly white-painted earlier in their life by the previous (original) owner. I think this was to fit in to a shelf unit, as it was only on some surfaces and not others. This has since been carefully removed, and the cabinets re-finished with teak oil. There are still some traces of the white paint in the grain of the wood in places - on the left side of one speaker and the right side of the other - so this hasnt been generally noticeable in my hi-fi set-up. Ive tried to show this as well as I could in the photos. There are also a couple of minor screw holes in the sides - again not generally noticeable.

Fabric: Generally good condition, with no significant damage or tears. Both speakers had two small (now hardly visible) screw holes to the front where I think the orginal retailer attached their own shop label.
One speaker is very clean except for a few very very slight traces of white paint at the bottom edge - although really barely noticeable.
The other has some slightly darker marks (possibly grease?), as can be seen in the photos. I think this is not too much of a distraction. However, the new owner might decide to remove it - I think there are methods to do this from fabric, but it has never bothered me. Also a tiny (less than 1cm) bit of fabric had a nick in it and this has been repaired and is no longer visible.
Again, I tried to show the fabric as well as possible in the photos.

Labels: Original Tannoy badges to front (one with a slightly more gold tint than the other - which I only just noticed today when I put them side by side!) and paper labels to rear, and one remaining transfer label to rear.
