1964 GIBSON SG SPECIAL STOP TAIL NON TREM PETE TOWNSEND

⭕ This 1964 Gibson SG Special is a one owner, no excuses guitar and is completely original and unaltered in any way with NO issues with the original case and a box of vintage Gibson strings and also a pick and tail piece wrench. I know you have heard this before as everyone claims they purchased their guitar from the original owner but this guitar truly was purchased from the original owner. He even provided me the original bill of sale for the guitar and case as he bought them separately from Whitey Lunzar Music in Columbus Ohio back in June 17th 1964 and also his public pool membership card from Upper Arlington Pools in Columbus Ohio with his name on it. The owner told me the story of how he bought this guitar and played it out during the Summer of 64 and he loved the guitar so much that he didnt want anything to happen to it so he stored the guitar away and never played it after that Summer.

The wrap around tail piece is truly desirable and rare to find on an SG Special as most of them came with that silly tremolo set up. The original Gibson 50s design with a 1 11/16 wide nut width, fat neck, and 2 P-90 pickups makes this guitar just scream. It has a solid Honduras Mahogany body, bound Brazilian Rosewood finger board with 22 frets, pearloid dot position markers, wrap around tail piece (no trem), Cherry Red finish, nickel hardware and the Gibson original hard shell case. You wont find a more straight up unmolested all original guitar than this with documentation and just think Pete Townsend never had a chance to destroy this one. There are reasons why players like Townsend and Angus Young chose the SG and after plugging in this sleeping monster you will know why. The frets are original with the binding nibs that go over the fret ends and with only minor fret wear. The pot codes read 137647 meaning 137=CTS brand pots (Chigago Telephone Company), 64 is the year 1964, and 7 indicating the 7th week of 1964. The Cherry Red finish is a vibrant Red with no fade and there are no cracks in the pick guard like most of these SGs have. There is no checking and just some very minor dings here and there. The head stock is very clean with no problems and the neck joint is solid with no issues. The headstock on this guitar is incredible as you seasoned collectors know you can tell a lot about a guitar by condition of the headstock. I will grade this guitar a 9.0 as the only real cosmetic defect is the quarter spot wear mark on the back of the guitar caused by the shirt button of the original owner and some light worming on the back.
