F104 Starfighter M L 12 P Pressure Helmet

⭕ Incredibly Rare British made

M.L 12P Pressure Helmet

This is one of the most difficult to obtain Flight helmets in the world!

The chances of finding one this complete with its box, original inspection certificate, instruction book, spares and pilot history are very slim indeed.

This is basically a once in a life time opportunity for the serious flight helmet collector or Aviation connoisseur.

This helmet is a M.L 12P Mk4G made by the M.L Aviation Company LTD in Berkshire England. The paperwork is dated 1965. This spec of helmet was used by the German Air Force on

F-104 Starfighter Aircraft by pilots flying test and evaluation missions at very high altitude. This is also the type of helmet that was also worn by the Concorde test pilots on the first Concorde test flights.

The serial number of this helmet is MLE/H/339

The helmet is named to: Rothermann INSTR. I take it this means instructor Pilot. We are in the process of trying to find out any history for this pilot however it is almost certain that he flew the

F-104G Starfighter for the German Luftwaffe around 1965.

Everything on the helmet seems to work correctly. The spring loaded rear crash protection shell lifts up and down and locks into place as does the clear sprung loaded visor that is lifted up and down and locked into place with the yellow bar The internal tinted visor also works correctly. The helmet is overall in great shape. It is in used as flown condition and as such has a certain amount of standard wear. But generally it is superb having been correctly boxed and stored. The rubber inner lining has perished and split in places as per the picture but this is as to be expected with the helmet being 44 years old. The rubber seal around the nose area of the clear visor has also started to perish in the centre. Again this can be seen in the close up picture. The inner silk liner has picked up a certain amount of dirt from flight use however there is a spare brand new one in the case along with the powder, cleaning fluid, cleaning cloths etc.

The pictures paint a thousand words but please feel free to ask any questions.

Apart from being used on the F-104G and Concorde this type of helmet had no other applications. It was used and produced in very limited numbers and is today one of the most sought after flight helmets of all time.
