1961 GIBSON LES PAUL SG STANDARD VINTAGE ELECTRIC

⭕ For your consideration is this vintage, absolutely mint, 100% all original 1961 Gibson Les Paul SG Standard electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 353XX, is, without a doubt, the cleanest example I have ever seen, however, it has a unbelievably unfortunate issue that warrants mention within this first paragraph. No, it is not broken, cracked, nor repaired, it appears to have had different tuners installed at one point, though there are no additional holes. And while the original tuning machines were put back on, there is residual evidence on both the front and back of the headstock of such having been done. This guitar was recently purchased from the original owner, and a copy of his original purchase receipt is included. While the issue is heart-breaking for some collectors, it still is one of the finest examples otherwise.

With nickel P.A.F. pickup covers that reflect like a clean mirror, and a Cherry Red finish that is as rich and intact as the day it was shipped from the factory; this impeccably pristine guitar looks cleaner than a new reissue. It includes the original 5-latch brown Lifton hardshell case with pink interior, with the exact aesthetic of a Sunburst Les Paul case, but fitted for an SG.

As mentioned, this guitar is 100% all original, including; the original Patent Applied For humbucking pickups, the original Cherry Red finish, original ABR-1 tun-o-matic bridge, original single-line double-ring Kluson Deluxe tuning machines, original sideways Vibrola, original small pickguard, original silver insert reflector control knobs, original pots and wiring, and all other related hardware.

Serial Number: 353XX
Pickup Resistance: 8.25? (bridge), 7.83? (neck)
Weight: 7 lbs 3 oz

This guitar feels and sounds i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-e! The P.A.F.s are so articulate it makes all others sound like lo-fi cassette tape recording in comparison. Amazingly present, particularly rich, super loud, responsive and transparent, the sound of this guitar will impress even those whove had the pleasure of playing and/or hearing a good Burst. This, when combined with the utterly perfect neck and neck profile, will immediately inspire the best playing and tone any particular guitarist has to offer.

The neck profile is the typical 61 slim shape: with a shallow depth, bulky edges, and a consistent form throughout the entire length of the fingerboard. The factory large frets remain perfectly intact with no visible wear. The neck heel is perfectly intact, with the only ghost of weather-checking reaching half-way across the seam.

As can be seen in the photos below, the original holes in the headstock were enlarged for a after-market tuner with the same footprint and screw pattern as the originals. It also appears that a slight dab of clear fingernail polish was added above and below the low-E tuning machine to fill an opening seam from that coinciding wing on the headstock. Though it never appears to separate, nor go through the headstock, the resultant crease is visible on the front as well, though clearly not open and never repaired.

While clearly a bummer, the issue with the headstock isnt the worst case scenario, and probably wouldnt be too bothersome if the guitar wasnt otherwise so perfect. Heres a rare opportunity to buy both a great collectors piece and unbelievably amazing players guitar.
