Thomas Richards Of London Clock

⭕ A beautiful stunning fusee wall clock by Thomas Richards of London.

In as found untouched condition.

The fusee movement with verge escapement, is in excellent working order.

The backplate of the clock is engraved Thomas Richards as well.

The saltbox case and wooden surround are genuine and original. The dial is fixed to the surround by 4 screws. These 4 screws go through the dial and into 4 brass pieces that are themselves screwed to the surround. This method of fixing the dial is found in high class clocks.

The silver on brass dial is 14 inches in diameter, and is recessed into the surround, as it should be. The bezel is heavy cast brass, and the total diameter of the clock is approx 16 inches.

The case has some gold or yellow painting on it, getting a little worn now, on the lower part of the saltbox case, and a band around the surround.

It needs a little piece of woodwork done near the bezel lock, and some beading on the doors.

The pegs are missing, the peg holes are quite small not more that about 3 to 4 mm, so a standard peg will not fit, a piece of wooden dowel about 1/8 of an inch in diameter is about the correct size. It may well of had small metal round pegs originally, an easy replacement anyway.
