⭕ Rare and totally original WW1 Australian Slouch Hat. It has a puttee pugaree which as can be seen has been there since the Digger attached it, replacing the standard issue one. It also retains its chin strap amazingly, although it is fragile at one of the fixings. Badge is also original to the hat. The headband badly worn but still mostly there. There are no markings or stamps to be seen on any part of the hat. It was found in a farm outbuilding in France about ten years ago shortly before I bought it and it has several holes in it from some type of wood boring insect and it has lots of moth tracking on it. It is also faded, dirty and stained. Lovely. A definite been there and done it slouch hat. Its so rare in fact that there are museums in France that have to display a WW2 Australian slouch hat on a mannequin because they just cant acquire an original WW1 example. The chances of another one appearing on ebay as good as this in the next few years are very slim so dont miss your chance.
